Why train at Saunders BJJ?
Don't take it just from us...read on to see what folks who have had the opportunity to train at Saunders BJJ have to say. Oh, all of these comments are completely unsolicited.
...he is not only a great guy, but has truly exceptional BJJ skill.

Highly recommended if you're in the area to check out Kyle, excellent and highly technical Jiujitsu!

Kyle Saunders has amazing Jiu-Jitsu, and is clearly one of the top instructors in the area. And he has an amazing technical explanation for every technique and position. Class has a great range of sizes and blet levels (one black, one brown, at least five purples and several blueblets in addition to many beginners. [...]I have trained with several blackbelts, and Kyle is by far the best, and the best an explaining the techniques and progressing his students.[...]perhaps the best aspect of Kyle's class is the environment: No egos, everyone is there to help each other out. It is very conducive to progressing quickly. The training partners are awesome, and that comes from the tone set by the boss.

I visited many BJJ schools when I moved back to this area and was really impressed with Saunders BJJ. Kyle sets the tone in the class as a laid back, technical, and hands-on instructor. I have been to other schools and none of the ones I visited had instructors at his level teaching every class and willing to roll with you at every class. The class is challenging, difficult, experienced, and a lot of fun. Specifically as a BJJ practitioner, Kyle is top notch, and truly shows he was taught by one of the best. Sick pressure, technical movements, phenomenal use of leverage, and the knowledge and articulation to explain the techniques. It is truly an honor to have a belt under him.

I have been training under Kyle for 6 years, so expect my bias to fairly noticeable. Kyle trains a very methodical and highly technical form of jiu-jitsu, in line with the type of precision instruction that Roy Harris is known for. His method of teaching focuses on isolating certain positions and thoroughly exploring variations, counters and progressions. His style is not for those looking for a flashy, sport-like environment. I echo Jason's comment that Kyle sets the tone for the class: his laid back style creates an ideal learning environment. Guys are constantly picking each other's brains on different moves, trying to find counters and trying out new stuff. People are motivated to learn and not simply progress in belt, and that is the mark of a good teacher.

Kyle is the man!! Great Jiu-Jitsu, awesome ability to teach and a nice guy who breeds a fun, comfortable learning environment. I definitely recommend checking him out if you are in Rochester.

Kyle has an amazing teaching abilty and phenomenal jiu jitsu. The guy is just nice, and it rubs off on the rest of his students. No big ego, and everyone is more than willing to help you learn. It's just an awesome training environment. I would also like to add that if you EARN a belt from Kyle that you have accomplished something.

Just wanted to say thanks for the excellent instruction you have been providing me with. You are an excellent communicator, and it makes it easy to learn. I am constantly thinking about class, and the techniques we learn there.
